Meet the artist
She is inspired by people, cats, flowers and everything else in between, but she is especially curious about ‘the thing under the thing’. The inner worlds of people and things, moods, connections and how we all see each other and ourselves.
Shibani Nayak is a fine artist, who works within the abstract expressionistic space. She enjoys working loosely, and making meaning of the abstract.
Her paintings hold a riot of colours and textures, with a focus on creating art that stimulates the beholder. She enjoys working with mixed media to create layers, within visually emphatic artwork that makes one want to touch the canvas to experience the texture.
There is something precious about simply experiencing something without labeling it.
That is what art is; It’s is what play is. It’s an experience.
Like with Play, Art is also meant to be just felt and experienced. You’re meant to immerse yourself in it… Feel it first, before trying to put words to it.
That’s the kind of art I aspire to keep making. The kind that impacts your senses, before you even have a chance to ‘make sense of it’.
