Black Is My Happy Color

Shibani has always been a champion and true fan of bright, vivacious colours. But for this series, she wanted to work on a canvas which starts with negative colour.

Blacks can be magic when used as highlights. But blacks as the starting point- the highlight- and the landscape of the painting: that’s the challenge and the objective of this series.

This series is the artist’s exploration of the relationships between black and colour, and the forms that can emerge out of a background of negative space.
