HOW TO APPRECIATE ABSTRACT ART
When I chose abstraction as my style, it was both easy and tough. Easy, because it flows naturally through me. Tough, because… let’s face it, abstract art gets a bad rap.
“What even is this?” or “My kid could do that.” Yep, I’ve heard it all. But here’s the thing: abstract art isn’t about what you see—it’s about what you feel.
When I paint, I’m not trying to replicate reality. That’s what cameras are for. I’m diving into something deeper: emotions, memories, and those messy feelings we can’t pin down with words.
Abstract art is my way of giving form to the intangible. In the painting below (video), I wanted to show hope and the idea that “everything happens for a reason.” Through colors, textures, and brushstrokes, I aimed to translate that feeling into something visual. Roughness versus smoothness, the swoosh of a brush, or subtle color changes—these elements make you feel.
You don’t need an art degree to “get it.” It’s not about cracking a hidden code. It’s about what instinctively stirs inside you when you see it.
The beauty of abstract art? It meets you where you are. No judgment. No rules. Just a nudge to feel, not label.
If abstract art feels “not for you,” maybe it’s time to let go of the rules and let yourself simply experience it.
